Last night, I got a bit “dressed up” for a night out with the ladies of The Jersey Sound Chorus. It was our annual “Installation Banquet” where we get together to install our new officers and get a chance to socialize. Although we spend a lot of time together, we’re often rehearsing and performing, so this is a nice opportunity to just have fun.
I wore a knee-length dress with a narrow belt that had a fun black, gray and yellow pattern. I bought it two years ago from Ross Dress for Less for $14.99. It has a keyhole detail at the neckline.
Because it has a very short sleeve, I topped it with a sweater shrug that I thrifted a few weeks ago for $3.00. It’s such a bright, cheery yellow color!
The chorus was also celebrating our success at our recent regional convention. We are a member chorus of Sweet Adelines International, which holds regional competitions each spring. We competed against 21 other choruses in our region, and won fourth place medals.
Here is our official chorus photo!
There are quite a lot of us, aren’t there? I am in the front row, third from left.
I was also honored to receive the Sweet Adeline of the Year award from Jersey Sound last night as well!
This award recognizes a member who goes above and beyond in service to the chorus and, as there are so many other members who do so much, it was just such a thrill to have my name called! So, all in all a fun night, and an emotional one, too!
And, saving best for last, I topped off my dress with this faux leather scuba jacket. I bought it two years ago on clearance and have lost weight since then, but I can’t bear to part with it!
I thought it gave a nice edge to the dress. Here’s a closer look at the laser cut detail on the front, previously shown here. I couldn’t find it or anything similar to it online, unfortunately!

Jacket is super cool but I really like the yellow number of the dress.
