I’m seeing the hashtag #noshopjanuary on Instagram and have read a few blogs recently encouraging people to “shop your closet”. So I thought I would take a leaf out of that book and shop my Instagram!
I was heading for chorus rehearsal today, and our “chorus color” is royal blue. So, looking back at my Instagram account, I took a thrifted sweater that I wore to a Christmas party last month. Then, I wore it with black pants and boots. Today, I paired it with jeans and pink sneakers.
I always wish I had better footwear to show you, but I struggle in that area due to foot issues. I knew I was going to be on my feet all day, so I had to go for comfort. I sometimes think I should have put on shoes that looked better, but I don’t dress up for the blog. I really just like to show you what I’m actually wearing day to day.
Because the rehearsal hall tends to be cold, I layered a corduroy jacket over it that I first photographed on Instagram while out Christmas shopping.
Then, I wore the jacket with a pink top and purple scarf.
I also pulled out this necklace, which I bought several years ago at a Sweet Adelines convention. I remember hesitating over buying it because it seemed too fancy for everyday wear, and the vendor told me that it’s fine to wear dressy pieces with jeans or casual pieces. But I still hesitated before putting it on today. I love seeing women wearing bold and stand-out clothing and jewelry, but then hesitate to do it myself!
2017 will be my year to step out of my style box!
