I began buying my clothing at thrift shops out of necessity — needing something to wear while losing weight. This outfit is thrifted “neck to ankle”.

Now that my weight has stablized, I can begin to invest more in clothing going forward, but will certainly keep thrifting, as I continue to find lots of fun pre-loved clothing.

This thrifting adventure, however, has helped me to really define my style and brands that I will be looking for going forward. When looking for clothing for myself (as opposed to things to sell in The Plum Shoppe), I don’t look at brands or designers, but things that sing to me and appeal to my own sense of style.

Interestingly, I find myself picking the same brands over and over. One of those is Laura Ashley jackets. This one is a fall floral pattern. It zips up the front and stretches for comfort.

I wore another Laura Ashley jacket earlier on the blog here.

Another brand I’ve bought over and over is Talbot’s. These are capris with a subtle honeycomb pattern. They are cotton/spandex, which gives them great stretch. I have several pair of thrifted Talbot’s capris. Full-length pants are harder for me to buy, since I’m short. Talbot’s has a great selection for petites, so when building my fall wardrobe, I’ll definitely be making a visit to a local store. I’ll be looking at pants with pockets, like the Weekend Chino, or the Hampshire Ankle Pant.

I’m also wearing my favorite kitty-cat earrings and a beautiful anklet that I bought from Wear It Well Handcrafted Jewelry. The picture doesn’t really do it justice!
